REWIRED

The Art of Making New Connections

Sometimes an idea takes you further than you expect.

That is how WIRED evolved. What began as a smaller project gradually grew into a collection of around 40 mixed-media works. In 2023, I immersed myself in the process, following one idea into another until the individual pieces began to form a larger visual world. Each work developed its own character, yet all shared a visual language of shapes, textures, colors, and rhythms that connected them.

The predominantly black-and-white palette, interrupted by vivid red, brings both restraint and tension to the compositions.
Using found imagery, hand-painted acrylic elements, and spray paint, I explored how separate fragments could meet, challenge one another, and create something new.

The book covers that became the foundation for these works carry a meaning of their own. A cover connects the outside of a book with the story held within. It holds things together while offering only a glimpse of what lies beneath. This became
a fitting metaphor for the invisible threads connecting our thoughts, memories, and experiences.

Books carry ideas from one mind to another. Collage does something similar: it brings existing fragments into new relationships, allowing them to communicate in unexpected ways.

For me, art is both intuitive and intellectual. The choices are deliberate, from the relationship between two images to the rhythm that travels across a composition and connects one piece to the next. I want the works to belong together without losing their individuality, leaving room for viewers to discover connections of their own.

In 2024, I entrusted the collection to Collé, a contemporary collage platform founded as a project of Atelier Pardon
to document and bring visibility to the medium. What began as
a smaller project had become a substantial body of work, ready
to enter a wider conversation about contemporary collage. Since then, the collection has moved from Denver to California.

Most of these works have never been shown publicly. After years out of view, I’m glad to have the opportunity to bring them back into the light. I hope they will find new audiences, new spaces, and new connections.

A selection of works is available on Artsy, with additional pieces available through inquiry to Collé.

Looking back, REWIRED reminds me what can happen when an idea is allowed to evolve. Perhaps that is what it means to be REWIRED: not to leave the original idea behind, but to discover where its connections can lead.
