Hand-sculpted dimensional art integrated into architectural surfaces for curated interiors.
A body of work formed in timber through process and craftsmanship.
TORSŌS is an ongoing series based on a shared language of organic and geometric construction,
explored through variation in scale, color, and composition.
In the language of architecture, the torso represents the central mass—the axis that holds a structure together. In Torsōs, this idea becomes both a point of departure and a guiding principle.
Drawing from a background in architecture and fine art, Agata Rek approaches each work as a study in structure, material, and presence—where form is not applied, but revealed through process.
Hand-sculpted in timber, each piece emerges through an intuitive and physical act of making, where the discipline of architectural thinking meets the sensitivity of the hand.
The name refers to presence. Like a torso in the human body, each work carries weight and vitality within a space—acting as both anchor and focal point. Frontal and direct, the forms hold a strong architectural presence, softened by the nuances of carving and material.
These are not bodies, but torsos of space—elemental fragments that feel entirely whole, capable of softening a room’s edges while anchoring its interior landscape with a quiet, sculptural heartbeat.

Not every space requires a statement—but where it does, the impact is lasting.
TORSŌS: Application & Spatial Integration
TORSŌS are curated for environments where materiality, structural presence, and atmosphere are paramount:
Private Residences & Estates – A commanding presence for entry halls, staircases, and primary living suites.
Luxury Hospitality – Sculptural focal points for lobbies, signature suites, and corridors in boutique hotels.
Curated Showrooms & Flagship Retail – Sophisticated, experiential backdrops for high-end fashion, furniture, and jewelry brands.
Corporate & Executive Enclaves – Bringing a tactile, human element to boardrooms, reception areas, and private lounges.
Wellness & Restoration Spaces – Using the organic warmth of timber to anchor serene, high-end spa and medical environments.
Public & Cultural Interventions – Large-scale, site-specific installations for airports, civic centers, and galleries where art meets architecture.
Collectors – Standalone, wall-mounted masterworks for private curation.
These commissions are for architects, designers, and clients who seek artful, spatially intelligent, and singular design interventions.
Each work can be adapted in scale, proportion, and finish
to respond to a specific space.

Design & Studio Synergy
Collaborative Vision: Developed in close collaboration with architects, designers, and private clients, each piece translates a project’s intent into a sculptural focal point. The process remains open and responsive to the spatial conditions, proportions, and light of the site.
Seamless Execution: From material selection to final delivery, the studio guides the process. Installation is approached in collaboration with the project team, allowing for flexibility depending on the scope and requirements. -

Concept and purpose
TORSŌS integrate artful abstraction with architectural consideration for clients who value singularity over mass production.
Intuitive Realization: Each piece is treated as fine art. The studio follows a "material dialogue" where the specific grain of the timber guides the final refinement. This ensures a "fine art flow" that avoids the sterile, stiff rhythm of a machine.

Method
Dialogue & Intent: Understanding the space, functional needs, and design vision.
Concept Development: Creating initial compositions aligned with space and scale.
Refinement: Finalizing dimensions, finishes, and material selection.
Hand-Sculpted: Manual execution with attention to texture, form, and light.

Delivery with Confidence
Delivery represents more than a finished product; it is a reliable solution rooted in meticulous craftsmanship and intentional effort. Torsōs are installed with guidance to ensure spatial cohesion and impact.
In the 21st century, luxury is defined by presence—by a return to material, process, and the human hand.
It is a move away from the mass-produced, toward objects that carry intention and permanence.
The Integrity of the Hand
There are no shortcuts to character. Each Torsō is the result of a physical, analog process where every gesture leaves a trace. The work embraces the discipline of making, where material is shaped through time, effort, and attention.
A Contemporary Legacy
Through the lens of collectible design, value is found in the relationship between object and space. These works are not decorative additions, but part of the environment—bringing structure, depth, and a lasting sense of presence.

"My process is never a solo endeavor; it begins as a quiet research into the architecture itself. I start by interviewing the client, not just about dimensions, but about the feeling they want to inhabit. I need to know the intention of the room—how the light moves and how the shadows settle.
Because of my architectural education, I am naturally obsessed with proportions, composition, and how a scale-wise intervention impacts the volume of a space. I propose the tonal palette and the structural scale with a designer's eye, but I truly care that the soul of the piece remains Fine Art. I avoid the sterile look of a CAD drawing; instead, I start sketch and an intuition.
People often ask if I follow a strict blueprint. But with the TORSŌS, I’ve had to learn to let go of the mechanical line. My signature lies in the balance—or perhaps the beautiful clash—between the geometric and the organic. I intentionally combine soft, hand-carved curves with disciplined architectural lines. This tension is where the work finds its heartbeat.
I care deeply about technical detail, but I also respect the wood as a living medium. When a natural shift in the grain presents an unpredictable challenge, I don’t see it as a flaw—I see it as an opportunity for active problem-solving. Every curve is a conscious, intellectual choice. This 'intentional imperfection' is my signature; it is the mark of a hand-sculpted piece that has been thought through from every angle. I am a thinker as much as a maker, and I find that the most elegant solutions are often found in the dialogue between my intent and the wood’s resistance.
In an era dominated by a so-called 'perfection,' I find a much deeper value in this human, considered touch. These aren't just objects for today; they are fragments of space designed to be passed down—carrying a quiet, sculptural energy into future generations."
Material: Basswood
Basswood is selected for its fine, even grain and ability to hold refined detail, allowing for controlled, consistent finishes and a level of clarity suited to curated architectural spaces.
While the forms in the Torsōs series share a common structural DNA, no two works are identical. The visualizations explore a single concept across curated interiors, demonstrating how it adapts to different spatial contexts. Each project is developed in response to its setting, with shifts in scale, proportion, and detail ensuring every piece remains distinct.
Due to the meticulous, hand-sculpted nature of the TORSŌS, I accept a limited number of commissions per year; please inquire for current availability.Let’s talk
